On Operation Fist Novel: “This is actually the second time I entered. I had entered the very first Operation First Novel contest that they had back in 2004. I saw an ad in Writer’s Digest Magazine and thought it would be really cool to use the contest deadline as a deadline to finish my book…self-imposed deadlines don’t always work for me.”
On going from critic to author: “It’s really surreal actually. It’s really cool to hear feedback from people and I’ve been really blessed with some great feedback. People have been mostly positive about the story, which is just amazing to me to experience that…I would hope that it would be a book that everyone would enjoy, but you never know until it gets out there.”
On the future of traditional publishing: “I actually don’t own an electronic reader yet. But, it doesn’t mean I won’t in the future…Electronic books are just another type of book, the same way you have audio books. Audio books is actually a really good example. They haven’t completely taken over the market…people were talking the same way about them…”
